What is it NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) — Is National system that delivers individualised support to people with permanent and significant disabilities, as well as their families and carers.

The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and plays a central role in the broader National Disability Strategy. This strategy brings together government, community, and industry to ensure that people with disability are supported not only by dedicated services, but also through inclusive access to mainstream systems like healthcare, education, and transport.

The purpose of the NDIS is to empower Australians living with disability by providing reasonable and necessary supports that help them lead fulfilling, everyday lives. It promotes independence, choice, and active participation in the community.

The NDIS includes two key components:

Funded Supports – Tailored plans for eligible participants, focusing on achieving goals such as personal development, employment, daily living, and social engagement.
Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) – Designed for all Australians with disability to foster community connections, build capacity, and access helpful resources.
